Ambulance driver fatal hit-MPV, 8 Injured


Tanjung Malim: An ambulance driver was killed and eight others injured in an accident involving an ambulance Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in KM404 North-South Expressway between downtown and the Banyan Valley on Saturday.

Acting Deputy OCPD DSP Hulu Selangor Bedin said Zulkifli also injured in the accident around 4 pm They were three girls who ride MPV. He said five people aboard the MPV was delayed while the ambulance HKL four people, including two drivers and two nurses.
 
"The ambulance and SUV collided during heavy rain, causing both vehicles skidded and overturned to the left side of the road.





"The accident caused the ambulance driver died at the scene, a nurse was seriously injured in the lungs while the second driver and another nurse was injured," he said when contacted by Bernama.

Driver killed were Safar Ibrahim, 57, a nurse who is Rabaitul Adawayah severe Samsudin, 24, while the injured were Mohd Rudin Ahmad, 50, and Normanan Farida Akhtar, 28.

Meanwhile, all the victims who boarded the MPV was lightly injured drivers Kok Chin Wei, 37, and his friend Yoke Moi Lum, 37, and three girls that Chauyuet Jing, 14, Chauyaet Thong, 11, Chauyet Wen, 8, he said.

Zulkifli said the ambulance was on its way from Raja Musa Hospital, Ipoh heading to HKL.

The driver was taken to HKL death while the injured were treated at the Hospital Sungai Buloh. The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
