SERI Property - Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to apologize to all the people of Malaysia for 'mistakes' choose the country's leadership legacy connectors.

"I remember I selected Mr. Clean, but clean, choose to be dirty. How was I supposed to know. If the beginning of the advice, I can choose someone else. So I ask forgiveness and pardon to all Malaysians, "he said.

The former prime minister said, when the choice is made, he can only see individuals who have a clean record and unfit to lead the country.

He said this in reply to questions from the forum 'Social Evolution in Malaysia: What's Next? "At Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), here, Wednesday.

The forum discussed the topic of potential leaders who decided to continue the legacy of his leadership before he relinquished the post of prime minister on October 31, 2003 after holding the number one position for 22 years, beginning July 16, 1981.

Dr Mahathir and Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi appointed to replace him while Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took over the chair Abdullah on 3 April 2009 to the present.

According to Dr Mahathir, the country's situation has now changed to be more dirty when the existing legal system can no longer be practiced as expected.

"If you were to say cash is king .... it's difficult. The idea, we give money, they will love and support us.

"We want to give people money, we have to have money," he said sarcastically.

Answering a question raised by a member of the state Umno Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who was dropped from the Cabinet Najib, Dr Mahathir said he was sure, many members of the party still supports the Muhyiddin retained as deputy prime minister.

"This issue (abortion Muhyiddin) a lot of controversy. Some money went missing, some are sudden entry in the accounts of its own. Maybe he (Muhyiddin) as deputy first time, do not question ... This is what happens.

"But I'm sure, if asked Umno members, many still like Muhyiddin so TPM," he said.

In the era of Mahathir as prime minister, three of the four had not appointed his deputy to replace him, but Abdullah. They are Tun Musa Hitam who resigned deputy prime minister, Tun Ghafar Baba (lost election to the post of deputy president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in 1993) and Anwar was sacked as deputy prime minister and Umno deputy president in 1998.

At the same forum, Dr Mahathir admitted that there was no need for the government to create a National Consultative Committee on Political Financing (JKNMPP) as announced by Najib recently.

Under the proposal, JKNMPP devised a plan aimed at financing political integrity, comprehensive and inclusive.

"What for? It is not the establishment of committees already, so no need to Body committees. It is enough, "he said.

Dr Mahathir then reminded his form had something specific in the sense of freedom despite practiced in the country to maintain relationships in the community.

"You can say anything on the basis of freedom, but when talking about other people, it still has its limits because we live in the community.

"If we want to see better conditions, be wise in choosing freedom. Choose what is good and leave the bad, "he said.
