At least killed in suicide blast at Wagah Border



LAHORE: At least 52 people, including  two Rangers personnel and children, were killed in a suicide blast at Wagah border in Lahore on Sunday, officials said.

According to initial details, several people been injured and the death toll is expected to rise with the suspected use of ball bearings in the blast.

DCO Lahore while speaking to News Story said over 70 injured in the blast have been shifted to three different hospitals of the city.

The death toll now stands at 52 and over 75 people have been injured, our correspondent Usman Ali reported.

[News Story Lahore bureau chief, Muazzam quoted responsible sources as saying that it was a suicide blast and a bomber blew him off as soon as the flag lowering ceremony ended as per daily practice by the Pakistan Rangers and Indian BSF.

Bhatti further said that the attacker was carrying nearly 25 kilograms of explosives, he was present at the ceremony for quite some time, however detonated himself when the people grew suspicious about his movements.

Meanwhile, rescue teams and security personnel reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies and injured to the hospital.

It was further reported that the deceased also included three personnel of the Punjab Rangers along with common people, who had gathered to witness the ceremony.]
