Cuepacs disagree out of EPF age 60

Kuala Lumpur: The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Civil Service (Cuepacs) disagreed with the Employees Provident Fund (EPF), which would require the withdrawal of contributors after the age of 60 years.

Its president, Datuk Azih Young said, the production is not relevant in view of the age of the members of the EPF in dire need of money for various purposes such as medical costs, housing and subsistence.

Cuepacs at the same time, urged the government to require contributions on behalf of the contributor by 11 per cent and 13 per cent when the employer is added to number more relevant with the increasing cost of living.

"I got a lot of complaints and grievances of EPF members on this issue. Many do not agree with the proposal.  At that age, perhaps many of those who have died.

In fact, the average contribution to EPF members only around RM50,000 after they retire.

"Instead, we provide a choice of whether any contributor can withdraw their savings at age 55 or after 60 years.

If possible, we ask that contributions on behalf of the employer raised to 15 percent or more.

Similarly, the contributors be increased, "he said here today.
