200 confiscated land ownership

SHAH ALAM - More than 200 land titles under the administration of Petaling District Land Office and the state government confiscated two years ago for failing to pay off tax arrears of land.

Assistant District Officer Revenue Division, Mohd Nurunnajmi Amat Promise said that among the confiscated land is industrial status.

He said, confiscation under Section 100 of the National Land Code will be done after going through some process.

According to him, the owner will be given a written warning, Notice of Claim (Final Notice 6A) and finally 8A Notice that allow the state government through the District Officers seize land and become the property of the government.

He said the total outstanding debt to the land tax for the past 20 years Petaling area alone reached RM172 million.

"Having identified the cause of non-owners do not make payments because they had no money, but because of the ownership of property that has not been renamed with the old owners.

"For example, the land was originally the name of the developer, but the process of transfer is not made, so the new owners did not know about the land tax payable. Because of that, we often rush developer for the process of transfer immediately, "he said.

In a similar development, Subang Jaya assemblyman, Hannah Yeoh said, property owners should not give reasons for refusing to make payments not received land tax bills.

The owner said, need to attend to the land office to ask about their bills and not wait until many years to cause delinquency rate increased from year to year.

According to him, the branch office has been open since last October, but many do not know and trudged to the Headquarters Petaling District Land Office is located in Shah Alam.
