Young Tigers squad recently proposed
KUALA LUMPUR - The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) have been urged to disband the Young Tigers squad of the national team under 22 years of focus on program development at the grassroots level.
Youth and Sports Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin said the proposal had been communicated to the representative of the FAM yesterday.
He said, the existence of Young Tigers squad was to short term and can not continue for a long time.
According to him, he had made the suggestion during his tenure FAM deputy president.
"Before this time I ever suggest that the Young Tigers squad was disbanded. We need to give a chance to players to play with clubs or state teams, "he said when commenting on the failure of the squad to the finals of the AFC Under-23 World Cup in Qatar next year.
Speaking to reporters after launching watches Garmin navigation system with Global Positioning System (GPS) here today, Khairy said if the squad of players that were exposed to the country club or team, may players performance will increase rapidly.
In that way, he said, the players will know better each ability level compared among groups play in their own where they can not improve their game skills.

Khairy said all players under 23 years of Japan, playing with clubs in local leagues before being called to represent the country.
"Improving the quality of football in the country will take at least five to 10 years and therefore the new generation can be born by the National Football Development Program (ICPC," he said.
"Consistent with our ICPC, we also want Liga Malaysia to become more competitive. If Liga Malaysia itself is not competitive, we will eventually be the same decision," he said.
