Participate how Tun M to restore the value of ringgit


SHAH ALAM - Pas Youth today regretted the attitude of the government to be 'indifferent' in addressing the depreciation of the ringgit, which has plummeted so RM3.81 against the US Dollar.

Vice-Chairman, Khairil Nizam Khirudin claimed performance of the ringgit at this time have equaled the national economy during the recession in 1997 and 1998.

"Pas Youth regretted the attitude of the government is seen lackluster in addressing this decline. Many of the issues of public interest also remain unanswered.

"Racial, 1MDB financial scandal involving the Pilgrims Fund Board and Tenaga Nasional Berhad, the fall of Felda Global Ventures, MAS recovery and TPP agreement," he said in a statement today.

Elaborating, he said, the government should follow in the footsteps of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad with the introduction of a clear recovery plan.

"The prime minister has committed the phase of selective exchange controls (2000) and the proposed use of the dinar as the currency of international trade (2002).

"At least there is a reactive measures and initiatives that have been taken to address the crisis at the time," he said.

Instead, the government today is so weak and the situation worsened with the various issues affecting the credibility of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who was allegedly involved in the worst financial scandal in the history of Malaysia.

"The government is seen as weak and shrouded with a variety of issues affecting the credibility of the Prime Minister himself. Pas Youth weakness concerned the economy would drag the country towards a more severe, "he said.
