58-year-old guilty after Doctors at the National Hospital in Colombo where the handset rectum had to be retrieved.
"The man he had concealed inside the phone," the official said, asking not to be named, said.
"Unfortunately for him, the phone rang at the wrong time and the guards knew they were on the wrong end of a phone."
The man was in the hospital for two days but was discharged and the mobile phone was taken back to jail on Friday said.
