BN won in Rompin, the majority declined

ROMPIN - [UPDATED] Real stronghold of Barisan Nasional (BN) in Rompin not easy opponents sued when its candidate, Datuk Hasan Arifin won with 23,796 votes, defeating Pas candidate, Ahmad Nazri who received 14.901 votes.

Hasan won with a majority of 8,895 votes, a decrease compared to the majority of the received BN in the last general election.

According to the records of the Election Commission (EC), total turnout for Rompin P.091 CRP also decreased compared with only 73 percent PRU13 turnout.

In the 13th general election, the incumbent, Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis maintain respect for parliamentary sixth term after defeating former Chairman of the Board of Women Pas, Nuridah Mohd Salleh with a majority of 15,114 votes.

PRK Rompin held following the death of Dr Jamaluddin in a helicopter crash in Semenyih, Selangor on 4 April.
