Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) withdrew halal certification Secret Recipe Manufacturing Company Sdn Bhd due to violations of sanitary certification procedures involving errors.
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) today withdrew halal certification company Secret Recipe Manufacturing Sdn Bhd due to violations involving certification procedures and hygiene offenses manufacturing practices (GMP) is serious.
According to Jakim Halal Hub Division director Mohd Yusoff Hakimah through a statement posted on their official Facebook, withdrawal of certificates in force on May 7 was however not due to misuse of illegal substances in the processing of the product.
"The withdrawal of the certificates shall not prevent the company to re-apply for the halal certificate after corrective actions have been made and comply with Malaysia's halal certification," said Jakim through their official Facebook account
It is understood, Jakim had called the company and they promised to take immediate action against offenses causing halal certificates withdrawn.
However, Jakim will make a review of the application is based on inspection and compliance with the Malaysian Standard 1500: 2009 and Malaysia Halal certification procedure Manual 2014.
"Jakim takes a serious view of this matter and remind the holders of Halal Certification Malaysia to always comply with the standards from time to time.
"Action will also be taken without compromise to any party who violates the halal certification standards compliance," said Hakimah.
Meanwhile, social media practitioners express their views soon after the statement was issued by Jakim.
Apparently, this issue has sparked concern among Malaysians, particularly for Muslim consumers.
