Five family members were killed in the crash KM 40 Jalan Kimanis-Keningau

Driven vehicle is believed to have crashed and overturned into the opposite road leading to Keningau.

Kota Kinabalu: Five family members were killed and a child was seriously injured after a four wheel drive Isuzu D-Max which they were traveling went out of control at Km 40 Jalan Kimanis-Keningau yesterday.

The incident happened at about 5 pm, the driver Nur Fitriati Sukarno, 28, and four members of his family including his mother, Supiati Mohd Salleh, 53, two sisters Triana Nur Khasanah Sukarno, 34, and Rahmahyanti Dwi Sukarno, 35, and her brother Eka Sudarmono Sukarno, 37, died at the scene from head injuries.

A boy was two years old, Muhammad Hamizan Mohd Said was seriously injured and is now receiving treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kota Kinabalu.

Papar district police chief DSP George Abdul Rakman said that during the incident the vehicle carrying the family was traveling from Tawau to Kimanis.

Vehicle driven Fitriati Nur is believed skidded and overturned on the road leading to the Keningau contrary, he told Bernama today.
