They said the object covered with sand and barnacles on the edge.

French Defence Minister pledged to continue to support Malaysia in the investigation of an aircraft wing fragments found on the island of Reunion, near Madagascar recently.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said he had contacted his counterpart in France, Jean-Yves Le Drian and confirms wing fragments will be sent to the Technical Aeronautical Laboratory DGA in Balma, east of Toulouse, France.

Deputy Transport Minister, Ab Aziz Kaprawi said the mysterious fate of missing flight MH370 from more than 500 days ago is now almost certain that unfolds after the aircraft debris was found in the Indian Ocean confirmed belong to a Boeing 777 aircraft.
"I believe we are close to finalizing the MH370 mystery. It may be convincing evidence that the MH370 crashed in the Indian Ocean," said Ab Aziz Kaprawi told AFP.
Earlier, the Chief Commissioner of the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), Martin Dolan said 'confident' that the remainder of the fuselage of the plane was found MH370.

Malaysia sent a special team to Reunion Island to investigate whether the fragments were found belongs to the missing flight MH370 over a year ago.
Speaking in New York, Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Laimemaklumkan any findings need to be investigated before approval can be made.
In a statement this morning, Malaysia Airlines told it was too early to link the discovery of fragments of the plane MH370.
"It's too early to speculate on the airline where it came from flaperon it for now," the airline said in a press statement here.
CNN aviation analyst and former Inspector General of the US Department of Transportation, Mary Schiavo said the plane was printed with a serial number to identify the parts that are to be identified and matched to the particular aircraft model.
"If the part number is stamped on the plane was still there, (the authorities) need only make a phone call to Boeing or the index to see if it belongs to a Boeing 777. And if it belongs to the Boeing 777, it is MH370," he said ,
CNN.com portal also reported that the Boeing is conducting a preliminary assessment of the fragments using existing images.
The source stressed that the observation is still in the preliminary stages.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak also stressed it was too early to speculate that the wings were found early today is part MH370 aircraft debris.
