Hishammuddin denies rumors of resignation

KUALA LUMPUR: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein denied rumors that he will resign from the Cabinet of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

In a short statement on Twitter, Hishammuddin said the speculation as "negative spin" by those who are not responsible.

Hishammuddin made the remarks in response to a question from one of his followers on Twitter who asked whether he would resign.

Resignation rumors began to spread from Tuesday through some writing at least by two political bloggers.

Newspapers Hishammuddin said the wind was going to resign within 48 hours, before Thursday, followed by another minister.

It is a follow-up reaction to a report on the "ultimatum" given by the prime minister to the congregation ministers in a cabinet meeting last week.

Najib Utusan Malaysia reported quoting a source in the Cabinet asked the members to work together on the issue of his 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) or resign.

This is the second time Hishammuddin reacted rumors regarding his position in the cabinet via Twitter.
