KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) said it has launched a formal investigation to investigate if the problem 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) has certainly violated the rules of the Central Bank and the law.
"It involves legal instructions issued to obtain information from the entity," said BNM in a statement.
BNM also confirmed they would also take statements from individuals involved in administering and managing information from internal and external parties concerned.
"In addition, Bank Negara Malaysia has submitted the information obtained from foreign authorities to investigative agencies. The action was carried out after obtaining permission from the foreign authorities," the statement said.
In addition, BNM also emphasized that further disclosure of the details of the investigation could affect the outcome of the investigation, "he said.
