63 Malaysians participate militant identified IS

CROSS CITY - The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) has identified 63 members of the militant IS 143 people who are now in Syria after their attempt to contact the police to return to Malaysia.

Assistant Director General of Counter Terrorism, the Special Branch, Bukit Aman, Datuk Ayub Khan Mydin Pitchay said, 80 more have yet to be identified and action is being conducted to detect their identity.

He said those involved have different backgrounds and seven of whom are government employees.

"In our efforts to bring them home we also need the cooperation of third countries, namely Turkey.

"After all those involved were from all over Malaysia including Sabah and Sarawak and recovery effort will be made after their return to our country," he said.

Ayub Khan said, based on his experience, 97 per cent involved the rehabilitation of their successful and only three percent were returned to IS.

He was speaking after chairing a moderated forum organized by Perdana police headquarters (NHQ) Kelantan Police Day celebration all 208 on board of the Islamic Center of Lundang here tonight.
