'He was the most horrible experience'

KATHMANDU - As search and rescue operations entered the sixth day, more Malaysians stranded in Nepal appear to share their thoughts about the horror experienced an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale that rocked the country last Saturday.

Lim Aik Ming, 32, Lim Sheng Huah, 32, and Ho Weng Shin, arrived in Kathmandu on April 21 for an eight-day expedition to climb Mount Everest, near Pokhra, about 200km from the capital.

"The drivers we are able to bring a satellite phone to confirm the level of power in the earthquake, with the Annapurna base camp and inform us expected an earthquake aftershocks and landslides.

"At that point we decided not to continue our expedition and return to a safer place," said Aik Ming.

Meanwhile, Sheng Huah admitted: "It was the most horrible experience we have ever experienced and we decided to go back to the hotel and get tickets to go as early as possible."

In a related development, a young couple from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia are reluctant to broadcast their name, also shared their experiences that had to stay for four nights in makeshift tents along with local residents in the town of Pokhra.

"We stayed on the second floor of five-storey hotel and rushed out of our room when strong shaking buildings as if about to collapse at any time," they said.

The couple said the locals are very generous and kind to allow us to share a tent with them because they are worried
to return to their rooms.
