SYDNEY: A strong earthquake measuring 6.8 magnitude struck the Solomon Islands waters early this morning, a third vibration within three days, but no tsunami warning was issued.
Penyelikian Agency US Geological Survey (USGS) said the tremor was centered at a depth of 10 kilometers (km), which is 205km from Kirakira and 448km from the capital Honiara.
It is the third day the earthquake struck the Solomon row of the previous measuring 6.0 magnitude or more.
6.0 magnitude earthquake today hit the island early in the morning and 6.9 magnitude on Thursday.
