1MDB inquiry: Tun M more confidence PAC of the National Audit Department

KUALA LUMPUR: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today said he would trust the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) as compared to the National Audit Office in the investigation of 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

According to the Malaysian Insider reports, Mahathir said the National Audit Department only inspect but not take account of the important things to know where the money is spent and how the money is spent.

"I am more convinced than PAC AG. State audit only examined the accounts, they do not do a forensic audit, they were not trying to find where and how the money is used, in which they also took away the money.

"They just check their account but will not find a lot of things as they are storing books about the possible people who are very smart," he said, adding that if the PAC running full power, it can also be called by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak on the issue ,

Mahathir also said he had to put up with Najib for several years but the issue 1MDB, Najib unsatisfactory answer.
