AN elderly man died snagged giant kite when it crashed into a group of visitors at a festival in Japan, according to an official.
A video recording showed the letter - a letter that weighs 700 kilograms, measures 13 meters by 12 meters crashed into a crowd of spectators in Higashiomi on Sunday, wounding four people, including a gold-named, Junichi Yoshii, and a child - a seven-year-old man.
According to city spokesman, the death of a 73-year-old man was passed in the early morning.
"Security measures are not sufficient," said the mayor, Masakiyo Ogura.
AFP quoted the statement, Masakiyo apologize to all visitors and residents of the area for the tragedy that occurred at a rally on Monday.
However, local media reported that police are conducting an investigation into the case, which is thought to occur because of professional negligence
It is understood that the annual festival celebration "Big Kite" is not uncommon in Japan and every year, visitors will be reported injuries.
In 2004, eight people were injured when a giant kite crashed into the crowd in Kanagawa, Tokyo.
