PUTRAJAYA - Interior Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the cancellation of the program of Prime Minister dialog with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) today is not the direction he or Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
He said Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar made the decision based on the safety follow-up information will apply some early untoward incidents at the event entitled 'Nothing To Hide' it.
"The police received information early will occur several incidents that would cause something positive even if the purpose of the event is organized to open up something that should not be obscured," he told reporters after a meeting with scholars of Hadith, here.
Ahmad Zahid said the prime minister was saddened by the cancellation of dialogue because he is very committed to attend but was given by the police view that the President should not attend the factors of safety.
Asked about action against organizers for opening the hall to the public even if the event is canceled and police action to stop the speech by former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Ahmad Zahid said the matter would be discussed by the Chief of Police in a press conference this afternoon.
"... I just touched the ground. The question I leave to the operation of the department heads under my ministry," he said.
Office of the Prime Minister in his Facebook page today to inform Najib was not present at the dialogue program at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) because of the safety factor on the advice of the head of the national police.
Volunteers organized by the Bar Council of Malaysia (Sukaguam) was scheduled to begin at 10 am with representatives of NGOs, activists and members of the public can ask Najib on all matters, including controversial issues such as 1MDB and the purchase of land by Pilgrims Fund.
However, at 10.30 am, organizers canceled the program because of the commotion outside the Dewan Tun Hussein Onn, so there are individuals who were detained by police.
