Sosilawati Lawiya murder case


PUTRAJAYA - Police found pieces of human bones and the remains of the wood, which was used to burn the bodies, based on information from the two accused, the Appeals Court here was told today.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Saiful Edris Zainuddin said the main indicators which strengthen the prosecution's case is that when T.Thilaiyalagan and R.Kathavarayan led police to the discovery of some evidence that they are disposed of.

Thilaiyalagan and Kathavarayan shows where pieces of human bones and ashes thrown into the river Panchau, he said adding that Kathavarayan was the first show where the bones and ashes of the deceased.

According Kathavarayan and Thilaiyalagan and U. Suresh third man also led police to another place to take the goods into evidence.

Suresh is now serving 20 years in prison for destroying evidence related to the murder.

Saiful Edris said, three mobile phones belonging to aides Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya found in key Banting market after Kathavarayan and Thilaiyalagan led police there.

He said a watch Seiko Honda Racing Team owned by Sosilawati's driver, Kamaruddin Shamsuddin, were found after both the accused and Suresh led police to Exotic River Bridge.

Kathavarayan and Suresh also led police to Exotic River Bridge and discover a watch 'Bell & Ross' belonging to lawyer Ahmad Kamil Abdul Karim, he said.

According Thilaiyalagan led police to landfills Sungai Arak, where 14 wood waste fuel used to burn the bodies were found.

"When they arrived, the second appellant (Thilaiyalagan) said: 'This wood fuel use them'," he said.

Saiful Edris said, Thilaiyalagan and Suresh also led police to Kelanang River that leads to the discovery of six pieces of zinc used as a site to burn the bodies.

Saiful Edris was submitting on the proceeding to hear an appeal brought by a former lawyer N. Pathmanabhan, 45, and farm workers, Thilaiyalagan, 23, Matan, 24, and Kathavarayan, 35, against the decision of the High Court which convicted and sentenced to death them for the murder of Sosilawati, 47, bank officer Noorhisham Mohamad, 38, Ahmad Kamil, 32, and Sosilawati's driver, Kamaruddin, 44.

They allegedly committed the offense at Lot 2001, Jalan Tanjong Layang, Tanjung Sepat, Banting between 8.30pm and 9.45pm on August 30, 2010.

Saiful Edris said Suresh also led a police team to Subang Jaya, a black BMW X5 used by Sosilawati on her to Banting, was found in a ditch.

He said the information given by the accused and Suresh invention to produce such goods around Banting and Subang Jaya, unacceptable.

Saiful Edris argued that Pathmanabhan had a motive to kill Sosilawati because he did not have enough money for a check worth RM3 million and RM1 million to be paid to Sosilawati the sale of land in Penang.

The hearing before a panel of three judges, headed by Datuk Aziah Ali continued on Monday.
