BANGKOK - THAILAND. Two Malaysians were among 16 people killed in a bomb blast in central Bangkok this evening, which also left dozens of people injured.
The death of two Malaysians were confirmed by embassy officials in the Thai capital.
The explosion at about 7 pm (8 pm GMT) occurred at the Ratchaprasong intersection, near Erawan Shrine and shopping center of Bangkok.
It also damaged several cars and motorcycles.

Thai police chief, General Somyot Poompanmouag said, possibly from China and the Philippines were among the 16 people who died in the blast.

Previously, he said, the explosion was caused by a bomb of TNT.
Unconfirmed reports from police sources said there may be two other bombs that did not explode, which implies that those responsible would provoke mass destruction.
As of 9:30 pm local time, a total of 82 people were confirmed injured, according to the Erawan Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.
