Chevrolet car to avoid monkey



Victim died at the scene due to severe injuries to the body and head.

Seremban - A passenger was killed and two others injured after their car climbed Perodua Alza lost control while trying to avoid a monkey at Km 194.2 North-South Expressway (Plus) north at 5:45 am yesterday.

Kerian police chief Supt Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob said he received a report on the incident from the police headquarters movements (IPD) and McCoy rushed to the scene.

According to him, when arriving at the scene found the vehicle skidded and crashed into a roadblock.

"The incident caused the victim, Khairil Abu Mohamad, 39, died at the scene after suffering severe injuries when debris shield is to be the body and head," he told reporters here yesterday.

He said initial investigations revealed that the driver of the car and the victim's brother-in-law who was traveling from Kuala Lumpur to return back to my hometown in Kedah, Labour Day holidays.

"We also learned that the driver was shocked after realizing a monkey that is at the side of the road, crossing in front of their car, causing the vehicle he was driving went out of control.

"The vehicle is then skidded and crashed into a road divider located in the vicinity," he said.

Omar Bakhtiar said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics arrived and his body was taken to the Parit Buntar Hospital for autopsy.

He said Perodua Alza driver concerned and his wife sustained minor injuries.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Meanwhile, Head of Operations and Kamunting Fire Department, Fire Authority Tajudin Sidek when contacted, said that receiving an emergency call rushed to the scene.

"Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters quickly put out the trapped victim and hand over to police for further action," he said.
