ALOR SETAR - An eight-month-old baby boy died allegedly as a result of abuse by adoptive parents in a house in Taman Rasa Sayang in the counter today.
As a result, police arrested a married couple aged 40 and 30 years at 6.45 pm today for further investigation, said Kedah CID chief ACP Mohd Nasir Yes.
"At 12:10 midnight, Emergency Department Medical Officer z received eight-month-old baby who was unconscious.
"During the inspection there were bruises on the head, body and feet of the victim in his right thigh while there are traces of old wounds than the broken left collarbone," he said in a statement today.
Subsequently, the medical officer lodged a police report at the police station counter at 9:57 this morning and the baby was transferred to HSB, Alor Setar for further treatment at 11.55am.
Unfortunately, the baby died at 4:04 this afternoon and an autopsy performed on his body.
Mohd Nasir said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
