Congo bans wearing of the Burqa

Muslim women are prohibited from wearing veils in Congo in public places.


Brazzaville - CONGO. Republic of Congo announced a ban on veils in public places.

The authorities also banned Muslim migrants staying in mosques across the country.

The government says the ban as a measure to prevent the spread of terrorism.

The announcement was made the Congo as the first country in Africa to enforce such a ban.
