Papaya juice only herbs, non-drug treatments recognized dengue

SUBRAMANIAM: Ministry of Health does not recognize papaya juice as an alternative treatment of dengue.

Melaka: Jus papaya leaf extract which is said to treat dengue fever can only be recognized as one of the herbal remedies instead recognized the Ministry of Health.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said this was because the product must be through a variety of scientific processes including clinical process to be recognized by the ministry.

"I was not informed there any companies that have undergone clinical processes for the production of papaya juice to treat dengue, so it can be sold as herbal remedies instead," he told reporters after opening the National Conference Assistant Medical Officer of Malaysia 2015 here today.

Al Faris Enterprise company adviser, Datuk Dr Shuib Saidin reportedly said today take the initiative to produce juice beverages as an alternative for the treatment of dengue.

He said that based on the leaves of papaya juice that can produce blood platelets in the patient's body to treat dengue and dengue haemorrhagic fever faster.

Obviously, the product contains several enzymes that can help prevent the duplication of virus thereby activating the healing process dengue fever.

On berasaingan, Subramaniam said his ministry is discussing with the Public Service Department (JPA) to review the suspension of new personnel to the ministry.

He said it feared that the freeze will affect service delivery to the public mainly involve the opening of new hospitals or clinics.

"When we expand the service through the opening of new hospitals or clinics, additional capacities must be provided and it can not be frozen," he said.

He said this when asked to comment on the freeze announcement JPA new posts as control measures and the size of the public service rationalization approach was implemented in 2008, 2010 and 2011.

JPA in a statement on Friday, said freezing the creation of new employment in the public service would be offset by efforts to increase employment opportunities in the private sector.
