Farhan Akhtar will now serve as UN’s Goodwill Ambassador

Famous actor-filmmaker of Bollywood-town Farhan Aktar becomes the first man to be appointed as the United Nation Women’s South Asia Goodwill Ambassador

Bollywood’s most multifaceted star Farhan Akhatar has achieved another feather of success to his hat by becoming UN’s goodwill ambassador. The –actor-filmmaker has been appointed on being vocal about crimes against women.

The versatile star has got the privilege to be the first and only man appointed as UN Women’s South Asia Goodwill ambassador.  Farhan has been too vocal on issues like gender equality and violence against women. He also runs a campaign called MARD (Men against Rape and Discrimination) to end gender disparity in India. Through MARD he represents the voice of concerned men of India on these issues.


The actor’s social media accounts were flooded with good wishes after the announcement of his appointment.  Farhan will now serve as an advocate of UN’s newly launched ‘HeorShe’ initiative that aims to bring gender equality and women empowerment.
