KUALA LUMPUR - Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had to replace Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak if leaders retreated from his office.
Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the matter has become customary in Umno and the government administration.
"I do not want to be enemies with many people. If you follow the customary Umno, his successor (for the post of Prime Minister) must be his deputy.
"But if he (Muhyiddin) tantrum, he will be affected as well," he said in a statesman Talk program held at the K Club, Taman visit here, today.
Dr Mahathir said when replying to questions about a replacement if Najib Najib retreated.
He was in on it once again voiced its push for Najib to step down from the post of prime minister.
He said, the call is carried out to save the future of the people and the country as well as Umno party that seems to be weakening.
"Najib, draw back. If Najib still be prime minister, people will lose faith in Umno and the government.
"We have more than two years from now. If Najib retreated own then I will move the effort to restore public confidence in Umno and return it to the party, "he said.
